During the day dance troupes from the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, other Maryland Greek Orthodox parishes, and even parishes from neighboring states will perform traditional Greek dances. Prior and during the festival, GreekFolkFestival.com is your source for a full listing of participating churches and performance times. One of the many highlights of the festival is live Greek Music. In 2008, the Festival will welcome Apollonia, which will bring the music of Greece to the streets of Baltimore. APOLLONIA is one of the top Greek musical groups in North America. This critically acclaimed band, based in Baltimore, Maryland, features Maria Pearce, one of the country’s most talented female vocalists. Live performances also feature newcomer vocalist Marc Tsakiris, Tony Pearce playing bouzouki and keyboard, John Skleres on the bouzouki, Dimitri Valmas playing the violin, and Frank Mitsos behind on the drums. They play both traditional and modern Greek and American music. They have performed at a plethora of dances, festivals, and other major events across the United States.
